My interest for recycling intellectual property data relies on the idea of applying translation industry workflows to the patent field. This approach took me to start Patterm, together with Robert Mitwicki, in 2009. Patterm is a project aiming to increase quality and reduce costsin the patent field applying enhanced translation memory technology to the life cycle of patent portfolios. You can get more information about the project both here and here. Thanks in advance for your interest!
Since protecting inventions across borders relies on managing multilingual content, our approach starts recycling the existing content via ESPACENET or the Open Patent Server of the European Patent Office and putting this content to work in aligned, semantically-enriched manner for SMEs and inventors. The availability of the multilingual content helps thus reducing the intermediation level between patenting businesses and patent offices, increasing quality and transparency.
